Well Healed

IN THE NAME OF GOD……HEAL!!!!

With those words many of the faithful receive a blessing they believe will cure their ills. Perhaps a cure is forthcoming in some cases, either from psychosomatic effects or even by divine providence.

More often, the only thing cured is the poverty of the person administering the blessing.

Any objective examination of the lifestyle enjoyed by the successful faith healer will demonstrate there is substantial profit to be realized in providing a divine solution to a temporal medical condition.

The gathering of substantial wealth while offering dubious cures makes these “agents of God” suspect and endangers anyone with a serious condition who seeks their “cure”. Our country offers freedom to seek these cures and allows the healer the freedom to offer his services under the guise of religion. Do you think this is a situation in balance?

Stopping these practitioners of divine medicine by government intervention would smack of religious suppression which carries its own set of social ills. Only by seeing these charismatic practitioners of divine healing in a realistic light and acting with reason and informed caution can we decide the value of their treatment. Otherwise, well healed for you becomes well heeled for the evangelist and you could pay for his greed with your life.
