Face recognition software linked to cameras in downtown areas, surveillance cameras in most public places, cameras at busy intersections, and in every bank and store.

In this day and age, the eyes of our government are upon you. As long as this data is not abused it could be argued that we benefit from the security of knowing where the bad guys are and what they are doing. A case can be made that the ever present voyeur is a deterrent to crime. A case can also be made that this data is too tempting and prone to abuse by even a well meaning government.

Every person reading these words has been the subject of most, if not all, of the above cameras; the question is: are you really safer because of it?
