Not Terrorized

The great photographer Yousef Karsh created many photographs that we now regard as icons of the 20th century. One of his most famous images was of Winston Churchill. The Churchill image was so powerful that it became a symbol of British resolve during World War 2.

Now, we are the country under siege. In light of the fact that this project is about Icons symbolizing social issues, I felt that it was appropriate to borrow the Iconic power of Mr. Karsh’s image and apply it to the recent attack.

This image should be recognized as a tribute to the people who survived the World Trade Center collapse and still stand proud in defense of their country and to the photographer who, 60 years ago, created a true photographic icon.
