Indulgence

I am a former Catholic.

I have seen human greed and love of money control religion.

The Catholic Church used to sell Indulgences which are basically pricey “get out of jail free” cards for the soul. You could perpetrate boundless evils and then buy your way into heaven if you stole enough money to do so. This was a perk of being an effective thief.

The logic escapes me.

The hypocrisy does not.

There are many more examples of this kind of thinking and they are found in all the worlds’ religions.

Is tolerating these absurdities the price of faith?
