Handicapped?

To many people, the word “handicapped” connotes a person who is somehow needing sympathy; or at least that is how some of us react.

The man you see here was blinded at age 29 in a sailing accident. Since then he has put himself through Law school, designed and supervised the construction of his home, and has created many sculptures in metal and wood.

Pity or sympathy are not appropriate or desired, respect is.
